NBA 11/13/2023 Pelicans vs Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks have been in great form as they've won seven of their last nine games overall and they will be eager to stay hot after blowing past the Clippers in a 144-126 home win on Friday. Luka Doncic led the team with 44 points, six rebounds and six assists on 17 of 21 shooting, Kyrie Irving added 27 points while Tim Hardaway Jr. tallied 17 points off the bench. As a team, the Mavericks shot 52 percent from the field and 19 of 42 from the 3-point line as they took over the contest with a 47-18 second quarter to build a massive 32-point lead which allowed them to rest their starters early in this one.  Meanwhile, the New Orleans Pelicans have been in a rut as they will be hoping to arrest a four-game slide after falling just short to the Rockets in a 104-101 road loss on Friday. Brandon Ingram led the team with 31 points, six rebounds and five assists, Zion Williamson added 24 points and eight rebounds while Jonas Valanciunas tallied 15 points with nine rebounds an...

NBA 11/13/2023 Houston Rockets vs Denver Nuggets

A Western Conference clash in the NBA sees the first-place Denver Nuggets heading to Texas to take on the fourth-place Rockets. The defending champion Nuggets have come storming out of the gates as they begin their title defense. Denver has already amassed the best record in the NBA with eight wins and just one loss which includes a perfect six wins from six at home. The visitors come into this game with a lengthy four days of rest with their last outing ending in a 108-105 win over the Warriors last Wednesday. This will be Denver’s third complete game without the services of point guard Jamal Murray. The 26-year-old went down with a hamstring strain against the Bulls which will likely keep him out for the remainder of the month. The Nuggets haven’t struggled much in his absence, winning their last two games while averaging 121 points. The Rockets have been one of the surprises of the season so far. Despite starting the campaign with three straight losses, they’ve since turned th...

NBA 11/13/2023 Phoenix Suns vs Oklahoma City Thunders

I t’s tough to take much info from the previous meetings between the   Phoenix Suns   and   Oklahoma City Thunder   considering Phoenix’s roster swap, Durant’s ankle accident in warmup, and the fact OKC has been without All-Star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in both matchups with Phoenix this season. Gilgeous-Alexander will be in action tonight and that full-strength Thunder offense is a rough draw for a Suns roster running thin and missing their defensive anchor inside. The Suns are among the best teams at keeping opponents out of the paint and face an OKC squad with the highest drive rating in the NBA and the third-most points in the paint per game. Ayton’s 7-foot frame and quick rotation on the help defense is a big part of protecting the paint, and the Suns will miss his ability to change shots inside tonight. Phoenix looks to lesser-used centers Jake Landale and Bismack Biyombo in Ayton’s absence and coach Williams could decide to go smaller against an up-tempo...

NBA 11/13/2023 San Antonio Spurs vs Miami Heat

An inter-conference matchup in the NBA sees the East’s fourth-place Miami Heat taking on the West’s 13th-place San Antonio Spurs. Miami got off to a slow start in the 2023/24 campaign with a 1-4 record through the first five games. They’ve since responded brilliantly by winning their last four on the bounce following their most recent 117-109 away victory over the Hawks last night. The most impressive aspect of that win was that the Heat were missing two of their three best players in Jimmy Butler and Tyler Herro. Bam Adebayo shouldered the load with 26 points, 17 rebounds, two steals and two blocks. Miami has relied on a strong defense yet again as they rank ninth in the league with 110 points allowed per game. Last year’s NBA finalists will have to deal with playing the second of a road back-to-back here and will potentially be down both Butler and Herro again. The San Antonio Spurs will be looking to put an end to a four game losing streak as they play their second straight ho...

NBA 11/13/2023 Golden State Warriors vs Timberwolves

The marquee matchup of Sunday’s NBA slate sees the fifth-place Golden State Warriors hosting the third-place Minnesota Timberwolves. This is the first of a scheduled doubleheader between these two teams who will meet again in two days. Golden State will be looking to put an end to a two game losing streak following their 118-110 loss to the Cavaliers on home court yesterday. The defeat dropped the Dubs down to 6-4 on the year but still has them fifth in the standings. The hosts will have to deal with playing the second of a back-to-back, although the situation is made much easier with the Warriors being at home. Golden State has struggled with their three-point shooting in recent games, a rare occurrence for this squad. They rank seventh-worst in the NBA over the last three games with just 31.6% of their shots from downtown dropping. The Timberwolves have been on the opposite side of the coin and are playing some of the best basketball in the league. A 117-110 win over the San An...

NBA 11/13/2023 Lakers vs Blazers

The Lakers return home after ending a four-game road trip with a 122-119 win over the Phoenix Suns on Friday. Six of their next seven games, including this one, will be at home, which will give them an opportunity to buttress their 4-5 record.  They will go up against a rebuilding Portland team that is 3-5 on the season and is expected to be very short-handed. After a rough start to their regular season schedule, the Lakers will finally get a bit of a respite, as many of their upcoming games over the next couple of weeks will be very winnable. This will certainly be one of them, as the Blazers are expected to be without Scoot Henderson, Malcolm Brogdon, Anfernee Simons and Robert Williams III.  The Blazers come into this game last in points and offensive rating.  As long as the Purple and Gold don’t play down to the level of their competition, and as long as they take care of their defensive backboards, they should win this one without too much trouble.
